Blend Out is a four-page interactive experience in the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. The concept was a result of what we called the "IS Digital Sessions." Our team was provided with the language "Blend Out" and asked to create concepts ideas for the magazine. Once our concept had been greenlit, I was approached by Alastair Green(Executive Creative Director) to advise on the use of image recognition technology to trigger the experience. This type of technology required an application download, which many perceived as a barrier to entry. Our team decided to keep it simple, asking users to visit LexusBlendOut.com on their mobile device. They would then place their phone on the page, and the swimsuit model who was painted into the background, would turn, blend out from the environment, and walk toward the user.
